Winning the Moment: The Small Decisions That Create Big Results

Winning the moment isn’t only about performing under pressure during competition—it’s also about how you respond when life doesn’t go as planned.

Key notes

  • Win the moment by focusing on what you can control.
  • Mental toughness is built through daily choices.
  • Turn setbacks into opportunities for growth.

I have openly shared that after moving to the United States, I experienced one of the most difficult seasons of my life. I lost my job, went through a divorce, and found myself far from my family in Venezuela. Instead of allowing those setbacks to define my future, I asked myself one important question:

“What I know that others may find valuable?”

The answer wasn’t found in my circumstances—it was found in my mindset.

I realized that the discipline, resilience, and mental preparation I developed as an Olympian could help others overcome their challenges. That decision led me to become an instructor, speaker, author, and mental performance coach. Since, I have helped thousands of people build confidence and perform under pressure.

My story may help you understand that we don’t always control what happens to us, but we always control how we respond.

That’s what winning the moment truly means.

It’s choosing purpose over self-pity.
It’s choosing growth over comfort.
It’s choosing action over excuses.

Every challenge presents an opportunity to become stronger. The moment you decide to take ownership of your mindset instead of your circumstances is the moment your future begins to change.

At AMP Mindset, we believe peak performance starts long before the moment of execution. It starts with the daily decision to prepare your mind, embrace adversity as a teacher, and keep moving forward—one intentional moment at a time.
